More about Jane:
It was more than just weight-loss for Jane. She dug deep and realized that emotional distress had manifested in weight gain. She lost her dad to pancreatic cancer when she was nineteen, which was a tough blow to her and her family. She didn't allow herself to grieve that loss. A few years later, her sister was diagnosed with cancer and her family thought she would beat it. She went through all treatments, surgery and chemo... all of it! Even with that, she lost her battle do esophageal cancer in 2006.
It was a really dark time for Jane and her family. She remembers keeping herself busy with school, work, and playing with her rock band in attempt to forget about the emotional pain she was experiencing. Shortly after, her bass player passed away in 2008, which added to her burden of loss. Her diet at the time was anything quick, easy, and foods that temporarily made her feel good in the moment. She drank alcohol almost daily and didn't exercise like she wanted to. The weight came on slow, and she didn't realize it was happening until her clothes stopped fitting correctly. Even then, she was in total denial.
In 2014, one of her best friends passed away in his sleep. Worse, she found out from a Facebook post that he was gone. She was devastated. Through all of these losses, she never allowed herself to grieve. That inability to hold space for grief almost buried her. Add to that, the decades of emotional turmoil and unhealed trauma passed down from her family, and she was at rock bottom.
It took one picture for Jane to change her life. That was her moment of clarity. She had finally realized that SHE had to do the WORK; all of it - mind, body and spirit. Healing form emotional trauma is hard work for anyone, but that work was necessary. Just like changing her diet, Jane healed, and is still healing.
Jane never wanted her daughter to be a part of the unhealthy cycle she was stuck in for so long. Being healthy and active come naturally for her, and living a compassionate, cruelty-free life is her default. Jane loves her journey, she loves being in the best shape of her life, and she's so proud of how far she's come. She states her biggest accomplishment is the legacy she's handing down to her daughter: a limitless, compassionate, cruelty-free, healthy lifestyle!
