240: The Session

with Sesh

Sesh is a Rap artist and chef who takes the name "Rap Chef". Rather than letting obstacles bring him down and define his life, he chose to turn his odds around by making some major changes in his life. Today, Sesh produces and creates music, food and culture in everything he does. He's an advocate of a Whole Food Plant Based diet for health, environment and the animals. Sesh encourages others to seek happiness and health in everything they do, and has even created a new eBook to help others transition to a healthier lifestyle.
In this episode, Sesh describes his life growing up in Philly, and his travels to California which were inspired by a dream to do better. He talks about how people can "get stuck" in their hometowns and how many never pursue their dreams by taking the leap necessary to succeed. Part of The Session's journey includes his awakening to the food industry and how our food choices can either negatively or positively impact us in life.
Sesh also talks about stereotypes, education and bad habits in all cultures. Also! Stay tuned because Sesh's new album is about to drop! Be sure to subscribe to his Spotify channel for updates on new releases!

More about Sesh (from his website):

I believe there are three things people should focus on:

1. Mindset

Mindset is #1 because this is what frees us from the stress, pain and challenges we face. Also however your perceive life is how you view success.

2. Health

Health is #2 because all of the money in the world doesn’t matter if you are too sick to enjoy life.

3. Finances

Finances is #3 because this how most of the world survives. I have never seen a joyous homeless person suffering from poverty have a healthy immune system.

My promise to you is that these habits, when implemented, will make a difference in your life. I know when you take action, you’ll get results.

These are the same principles I have followed day in and day out for the last 4 years that have enabled me to contribute to my community, my family, and to the world on a much larger scale than if I was struggling to make ends meet. If I can go from living in my car to being in national magazines SO CAN YOU!

What's going on my people? It's The Session here. If you didn't know I am a young dude who came from poverty, racism, depressive state, drama, poor eating habits, stress, robotic people, and more. This all ended once I decided that "enough is enough". I realized that how could so many people who are unhappy in their own lives have such grand knowledge on mine! I made decision to take $1 and a dream to California to pursue my dreams of being EVERYTHING I think I have a talent at. I drove from Philadelphia to California, and faced a ton of adversity. From being briefly homeless, to losing a few new found friends due to gun violence, and all of the normal things that come along with being a hungry entrepreneur.

Long story short, I worked from a couch, slept on the couch, and the rest in my vehicle. I decided to take a chance again on leaving my virtual desk job and immediately started taking chances at being a private chef. One thing lead to another and I started accomplishing my goals. Became a private chef to tech companies, became vegan, appeared on national magazines, tv auditions, competitions, private chef for athletes, performing at colleges, and more.

I say all of that to say I love being a nerd. Being educated and having strong work ethic is what lead me to make more intelligent choices on my life and my families life. I strive to inspire you all daily to get up and chase your dreams. I'm a work in progress, but I know I have no ceiling and I cannot wait to meet you all.
