194: Myths of Choice
with Clare Mann
Clare Mann is an organisational psychologist, existential psychotherapist and author of numerous books and training programs. She is an expert in communication, human behavior and Vystopia (the esixtential crisis experienced by vegans, arising out of an awareness of the trance-like collusion with a dystopian world).
In this episode, Clare introduces her new book, "Myths of Choice" (why people won't change and what you can do about it), which goes into the psychology of why it's hard to convince people to change their ways. Clare also offers tips on how to be a more effective communicator when speaking to others about veganism or other belief systems that challenge some of the most normalized thought patterns.
Bonus: The holidays are coming, and Clare gives us some tips on how (or not) to enjoy the holidays with our non-vegan family members.
More about Clare:
Clare Mann is an Australian-based vegan psychologist, communications trainer and animal rights campaigner. She consults with people all over the world to help address the personal and social challenges of being vegan and living in a non-vegan world and is the author of Vystopia: The Anguish of Being Vegan in a Non Vegan World.
Clare is regularly sought out to present at vegan and animal rights conferences, rallies and festivals, and is the co-founder of the Vegan Voices smartphone app, a free 30-day video communications training for vegans as well as numerous online programs.
Clare Mann works 1:1 with individuals and couples around the world to work through their challenges. Many of these challenges relate specifically to being vegan but not necessarily. Many need to work through more general issues related to relationships, work, self-esteem, family, past experiences etc. Most prefer to see a vegan psychologist because their difficulties take place within the experience of vystopia.
In order to decide whether 1:1 counselling is right for you, I offer a complimentary 20-min discussion to explore more of what is going on for you and see how specifically I can help. This may mean setting up a initial 1:1 session or pointing you in the right direction with reading, online programs or referral to another vegan practitioner.
